Playing "catch-up"...

Okay, as promised in my post two days ago, I'm going to attempt to catch everyone up on some of the things that have been happening with Marci in the past month. It's easier to do it through pictures, so here they are...

We had a great time looking at the "Magical Nights of Lights" at Lake Lanier Islands in November. We wouldn't normally have gone, but we needed to be there for another reason, so we drove through so Marci could enjoy the many lights and see the fireworks. 

Thanksgiving morning saw Marci (and Bruce) enjoying the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade together. It was fun to watch Marci's face light up as bands, floats and helium balloons marched by. He especially liked anyone who happened to be playing a drum. (In other words, he enjoyed the marching bands more than anything!) The parade was followed by a VERY large Thanksgiving meal at our house. It was smaller this year, because my sister and her husband could not be with us. But our nephew, Luke, was able to be there, and Marci loved being able to sit next to his cousin during the meal.

Thanksgiving evening found us in downtown Lawrenceville watching the tree lighting ceremony. There were hundreds of people there and Marci enjoyed listening to the band play and the lights on the tree twinkle. He also enjoyed getting his face painted like batman. I mean, after all...what says Christmas more than having a bat painted on your face???  : ) 

The day after Thanksgiving we started putting up the Christmas decorations. Marci was thrilled! He helped decorate the tree, and even put the first ornament on it. We gave him a special wooden egg ornament that we'd purchased in Budapest before we left. It is hand painted and has "Hungary" written on it. It will be something he can have for the rest of his life. He seemed pretty happy to have it. 

Just last week, one of our "adopted" daughters (our friends have four girls we "adopted" into our family over 20 years ago) agreed to teach Marci how to make a gingerbread house. He'd been seeing the kits in the stores, and he wanted to make one. I'd never done it, so I asked Rebekah to teach him. She did a great job helping him create his house out of graham crackers, icing, and candy. He had a great time creating it and eating some of the candy that was supposed to go on it! 

That pretty much brings you up to speed on what's been going on here. Marci's homeschooling is going well, and his English is coming along VERY quickly. I had someone tell me the other day that they loved listening to him pronounce his English words with a Hungarian accent. I love that too!
