What's been happening?

My goal of getting a new blog posting up each week seems to have fallen by the wayside. Those of you who have been wondering what we've been up to, thank you for being patient with me!

Learning about primary &
secondary colors.
The past few weeks have been full of fun times during homeschool, as Marci continues to learn English and is now even reading some short sentences on his own! The day he was able to read a complete sentence by himself was extremely fun for me. His eyes lit up and he grinned from ear to ear. Needless to say, he was extremely happy!

Several people have asked if we took Marci Trick-or-Treating this year. The answer is "no". We have some wonderful churches in the area that offer free Fall Festivals and he was able to go to them and receive a boatload of candy. We didn't feel that he needed to go out and get more on Halloween night. (Plus, he had the added fun of jumping and sliding on all of the inflatables there.)

One of the most exciting things for us is that in the past few weeks Marci has started to ask if he can pray at meals and at bedtime. Of course we let him! It has been a joy to listen to him thank God for his home, Max (our dog), Mom, Dad, Tante Marjie (his Aunt Marjie), Grandmom and Grandpop (my parents), Oma (Bruce's mom), and my sister's family. He often will thank God for some of his friends as well. We continue to pray for Marci's heart to be open to things of the Lord and for him to soon understand who God is and just what Jesus did for him when He came to earth to die for our sins.

We continue to rejoice in all the little (and BIG) steps Marci is taking as he continues to adapt to his new surroundings. Our lives have changed dramatically in the past 6 months, but we couldn't be more grateful for all God has done to bring Marci into our lives. It's actually hard for us to think of our lives without him now. : )
