The past few weeks . . .

Marci waiting in line at the Fall Festival.
Going down one of the slides.
The past few weeks have been full of various activities. Our church had it's annual Fall Festival and Marci experienced it for the first time. He was able to jump and slide and collect candy for free. He was a little overwhelmed at first, but by the end he seemed to feel right at home with all the other kids who attended.

Shooting the apple cannon.
We traveled to a local orchard and picked up apples for our annual applesauce-making venture. They were having special activities for the kids so Marci was able to shoot an apple cannon for the first time, and slid down the giant slide (among other things).

Making applesauce
Last week was "Project Week" here at our house. That means we do very little school work, but get a lot of other projects done throughout the week. (We plan to do this off and on throughout the school year.) We did things like working in the yard and garden; cleaning the house; making applesauce and helping our friends with their backyard makeover.

Throughout all of our projects Marci proved himself to be a wonderful (and willing) helper. It was great for me to see his good attitude and his diligence when it came to working on various things.

He especially proved his willingness to help when it came to our friends' yard makeover. There were somewhere around 50 people (adults and kids) who came out to help that day. Marci jumped in with both hands and went from one thing to another, trying to help out in some way. His enthusiasm (and stamina) was noticed by nearly everyone working there that day. If there were anything "negative" to say about him it would be that his enthusiasm to help sometimes gets in the way of his common sense. We had to "reel him in" a few times when his exuberance for a project got a little carried away. : ) But over all he did a great job and really seemed to enjoy project week. He wasn't quite ready to get back to school studies yesterday. (But then again, who is ever ready to get back to school after having a week off?)

  1. Thanks for the updates, Karen. I love the pictures. It's great to see the way Marci fits in wherever he is.
