While we wait . . . (Part 1)

Although we don't have any updates on the adoption process at this time (we're still waiting on that last piece of paper to come back so we can send in our dossier), the Lord continues to amaze us with surprising events. The past two weeks have been full of surprises, so in order to keep this a blog and not a novel, I'll be updating the blog several times this week. : )

First, I want to tell you about our church. We love our church. It's not perfect, but we have a wonderful pastor who loves the Lord and preaches the Word, and we are blessed to be a part of it! Our church did something they've never done before. They took up a special offering to meet the needs of the people within our church family. Each family was asked to fill out a card with our "needs". We handed those in and then took up an offering. No one knew what the cards with the needs would say. No one knew how much money we would give as a congregation. But God did an amazing thing in our church body that day. Some people gave money, others gave of their time (40 hours of babysitting was donated, among other things), some gave gold rings to be sold and the money given away. The giving hearts of our people was incredible!

The men who met to pray over the "need" cards and the offering were given direction from the Lord as to where that money should be given.  And checks were written to help the people who had real needs. 


Because the offering was amazingly large for a church of our size, the men who prayed about where to give the money were able to filter some of that money to more than just people who needed food, clothing and shelter (what we all would consider a "need" as opposed to a "want"). To our great surprise and delight, our church gave us a check to be used toward our adoption costs! We are so grateful and humbled by the generosity and love that's been shown to us. We give God thanks for His provision. Because of that check (and the others who have recently donated to our adoption fund) we will be able to write the next check of $5,000 that will be due when we send in our dossier.  Please praise the Lord with us!


I'm learning that the Lord always has a reason for us to wait. I don't enjoy the waiting process (I'm all about getting to whatever it is we need to DO), but I'm grateful the Lord shows us that waiting is not a bad thing. He has things He wants to do and lessons we need to learn while we wait.
