Keeping busy...

The past week and a half, since our (soon-to-be) son came to live with us has been filled with various activities. We've taken a boat ride down the Danube River, spent time playing soccer (actually just kicking the soccer ball around), played on various playgrounds, dug trenches and castles in a large sand box, visited the Budapest Transportation Museum, attended a festival (with Hungarian music...and Hungarians singing various songs in English), watched our son ride his scooter in Hero's Square (a HUGE Hungarian tourist area), watched a puppet show, visited one of the oldest zoos in the world (right here in Budapest), watched Marci play on the giant trampolines in City Park, eaten at several McDonalds and Burger Kings (and one Subway), taken the Metro (subway system), Tram, and city buses to various places, and found our way to a church that was recommended we visit. Whew! No wonder we're tired. : )

But really...things are going well here, and we're grateful for the time we have to try to bond with our son. The language barrier is shrinking a little bit every day, and he seems to understand more of what we're saying to him, so we're very thankful.

Please DO continue to pray for us though. Because we are over tired, we find ourselves becoming "short" with each other (and Marci). We do not want that, and know that it doesn't glorify the Lord when that happens. So please pray for us to get the rest we need, and for Marci to sleep a little later in the morning. This morning he woke up at 5:20 and we sent him back to his room. He usually wakes up around 6:00. We'd love it if he would sleep until 6:30 though. : )  We'll see how we do on training him about staying in his room for a little while in the mornings. 

Here are a few pictures from some of our activities over the past few weeks. (And yes, I know you can't see his face. Unfortunately this is the best we can do until May 23rd when the adoption becomes official. Sorry!)

 I love this picture because it shows that Marci is open to having multicultural friends. : ) He was willing to play with any child he found at the playground.

Monday of this week we went to the zoo. I have a lot of pictures of the back of Marci's head as he saw the animals. We found out he doesn't like snakes, or reptiles, and really doesn't care much for fish or birds. But he loves other larger animals...and really LOVES bears!  : )
