Blessed by good friends and family . . .

The beautiful hostesses of Marci's shower.

This past Sunday afternoon I was blessed by my family and friends who put together a shower in Marci's honor. Many people from our church, as well as friends from the deaf community, came to celebrate our new addition.

Cupcakes and fruit . . . yum!
Marci and Bruce stopped by the shower to see the ladies who had come and stayed just long enough for Marci to get one of the wonderful cupcakes people had made for the occasion. (And he was thrilled when I brought home more cupcakes at the end of the party. He had been a little upset that we'd only let him have one when he was there!)

We received some lovely gifts for our son, and as I unwrapped each present I was overwhelmed with God's goodness to us. We are so grateful for the love and support our family and friends have shown to us, while we were away and even more so now that we are home again. We are blessed to have such loving people surrounding us and helping us through these first weeks as a new family.

I have to confess there were times while we were in Budapest that we felt very far removed from our "support team". We knew they were all praying for us (and we could feel their prayers), but we longed to be able to have them around us...encouraging us face-to-face, or helping us when we needed them.

Having fun at the shower!
In the past 2 1/2 weeks since we've been home, we've not only felt the love of these people, but we've seen it put into action. People have come around us, not only with physical gifts, but gifts of their time and attention. Marci is already feeling love for our relatives and close friends. He asks about seeing his "Grandmom and Grandpop" and asks specifically for others he's come to know and love very quickly.

What a blessing it is to us to have so many people who love us and care about this journey we've been on. We thank God for each one of them!
